His main fields of research are haemodynamic monitoring, haemodynamic optimisation, physiology of the critically ill patient. Since 2011 he has been the Research Lead for the Adult Critical Care Directorate and is the Current Clinical Director. He is the chair of Editorial and Publishing Committee for the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) and an associate editor for the journal 'Intensive Care Medicine'.

He has special interest in addiction medicine and has served as deputy chairperson and chairperson of the Central Drug Authority of South Africa from 1995 to 2005. Dr. Michael O'Leary
Prof. Michael O'Leary is former President of the Australian & New Zealand Intensive Care Society and a Senior Specialist in Intensive Care in Sydney, working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and St George Private Hospital.
He is Clinical Associate Professor at Sydney Medical School, The University of Sydney, and Co-State Medical Director of the New South Wales Organ and Tissue Donation Service. Michael trained in anaesthesia in the United Kingdom and holds a Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA). His intensive care training commenced in the UK in Cambridge and continued in Sydney where he achieved Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand (FCICM).
Michael was a Research Fellow at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London, UK where he completed his MD degree with studies into the metabolic response to sepsis and use of glutamine and growth hormone in the amelioration of catabolism.

Prof. Reena Shah is Associate Professor, Consultant Physician and Specialist in Infectious Diseases, in the Department of Medicine at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi. (AKUHN). She is also director of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program at AKUHN.
Prof. Shah completed her MMBS at the University of Southampton, UK and has been a member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) London since 2000. She obtained a Diploma in Infectious Diseases from University of London as well as a Diploma in Tropical Medicine from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Following this she obtained a Masters in Infectious Diseases from the University of London.
Prof. Shah was awarded Fellowship for the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh FRCPE in 2014. Her Clinical research interest is primarily in the area of HIV/AIDS, TB, hepatitis B and hospital acquired infections. She was the chair of the antibiotic sub-committee of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and has spearheaded the Antibiotic Stewardship program in AKUHN. She is also Vice-chair of the Kenya HIV Clinicians Association and member of the British HIV Association.

Prof Omar Faruq is the pioneer in Critical Care Medicine in Bangladesh who has started the first MD course in Critical Care Medicine in BIRDEM.
He received his training in Medicine and allied branches in the US in mid 1970s. He passed American Board of Internal Medicine exams in 1982. He also passed American Board of Emergency Medicine in 1990. He was re-certified in American Board of Emergency Medicine in 2001.He did his FCPS in Medicine in 2006.
Before joining United Hospital as Consultant General ICU, since 1996 he had been working at BIRDEM General Hospital, Dhaka.
Dr. Jorge Hidalgo

He is Professor of Critical Care and Head of the Division of Critical Care at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City, Belize and Secretary-General, World Federation Of Intensive And Critical Care.
He is Founder and Associate Editor of the Belize Journal of Medicine. In ompliance with the Conflict of Interest Policy adopted in 2019.
Dr. Hidalgo was invited to establish critical care medicine in the State of Belize and has subsequently used his expertise and regional influence to found several societies including the Belize Society of Critical Care, the Belize Society of Internal Medicine and COCECATI (Central America and the Caribbean Consortium of Intensive Care).
Dr. Hidalgo was awarded with the highest recognition the American College of Physician offers to his members in 2012: "Master of the American College of Physician". In 2016, he also was awarded with the Master of the American College of Critical Care, been the first Latin American Intensivist to got this prestigious recognition.
Dr. Hidalgo is a well-known and respected speaker locally and internationally and a regular contributor to chapters and books on critical care medicine.
Dr. Hussain Al Rahma

Dr. Hussain Al Rahma is Consultant Emergency Medicine - Head of Critical Care & Emergency Medicine, Associate Professor of Medicine and senior examiner - Dubai Medical College for women.
He established the first multidisciplinary independent ICU with fully trained intensivist in UAE. Founded the Department of Emergency and Critical care in 2002.
Heworked on the development of ambulance department and initiated the training and certifying the Dubai ambulance and within 2 years, and took part in establishing the paramedic program in the Dubai College of Technology and appointed as the medical director for the program.
In 2002 achieved the award as the employee of excellence in the health sector for the Dubai program of excellence.
He was appointed as a member of the Dubai higher authority of Disaster management and Chairman of the active disaster teams.
In 2003 established the sports events emergency teams, which started covering the Auto-drome car- racing events, Dubai horse racing events, Dubai Swimming Championship.
In 2006 joined the Arab Board for medical sciences committee to improve and develop the critical care chapter in UAE.
In 2005 started the CME program at the international level and initiated the Emirates critical care conference in Dubai.
Dr. Fernando Suprarregi Dias

Dr. Fernando Suprarregi Dias is Head of the Department of Critical Care at the Hospital Pompéia in Caxias do Sul, Brazil.
He was Director, Pontificia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) of the Cardiac Surgical Unit from 1989 to 1997 and of the General Intensive Care Unit from 1992 to 2013 and was president of Critical Care Society of Rio Grande do Sul (SOTIRGS) in 1995/1996 and President of AMIB in 2014/2015.

Dr. Daniel De Backer

Prof. Daniel De Backer is Professor of Intensive Care at the Universitè Libre de Bruxelles and is Head of Intensive Care Departments of CHIREC hospitals (Brussels and Braine l'Alleud-Waterloo).
He became fully specialized in internal medicine in 1991 and in intensive care medicine in 1992 (both at Universitè Libre de Bruxelles). In 1996, Dr. De Backer obtained the title of "Agrègè de l'Enseignement Supèrieur" (PhD) at the Universitè Libre de Bruxelles.
Prof. De Backer is course director of several courses on echocardiography in Brussels, Sao Paulo and at the American Thoracic Society annual meeting.
